Cleaning gutters is important

Residential gutter systems should be inspected twice a year, in spring and in fall. Wear a glove to clean them. Remove leaves and twigs. Wash away small debris with a garden hose. Clogs can be cleaned from a downspout by pushing a garden hose down through it or taking it apart.Clogged gutters and downspouts left unattended can cause major structural damage to a home. Leaky gutters allow water to enter the siding, causing wood rot, interior wall damage, and roof damage. Runoff that freezes in the soil near a house can damage a basement wall.
